A bit of history

B&B Darrè is located behind Piazza Ruggero Settimo, where the very important and active Politeama-Garibaldi Theater is situated. This square is in the heart of the historic center of Palermo and close to the city\’s main monuments and tourist attractions. The name of the B&B comes from Palermitan dialect where “darre” means behind, as it is located precisely behind the famous Politeama Theater. The word “darre” can also be freely interpreted as “da re” – meaning “royally”, in reference to our rooms which, while being of simple and essential furnishings, offer many comforts that make for a very pleasant stay. The symbol of the B&B is inspired by the most honorable emblem of the city, the Genius of Palermo, depicted as a crowned mature man with a divided beard, embraced by a snake which bites his chest. The Genius of Palermo is the personification of the city, a symbol of its inhabitants, its ethnic, cultural, religious, and social origins. It is believed to date back to the pre-Roman times. The B&B is located on Piazza Don Luigi Sturzo, where there are private and public transportation services available to take you along the main city arteries.
